Clothing Crowdsourcing
Just found out about two T-shirt shops on the web that use client feedback and market share to promote the T's. Threadless, founded in 2000, uses a version of "crowdsourcing" to involve users in the design and selection of their product. Threadless uses a voting method to determine which T's to print. Cameesa, founded in 2008, uses crowdfunding...a genius method of having participants buy shares of a particular design they like. When the shirts reach $1000 they get printed and offered for sale. Each shareholder will then receive a free T-shirt and royalties for each T sold. Brilliant!
